This week has been… intense. I noticed a headache coming on Sunday night. Monday morning it was much worse. I had an appointment (lumbar puncture) scheduled for Tuesday morning, so I decided to tough it out.
Tuesday was even worse. I had another LP and the pain continued to intensify until Friday. The pain was positional; anytime I moved I experienced excruciating pain and increased nausea and vomiting. I wound up getting admitted to help control those symptoms. I wasn’t even able to sit upright in the car on the way to the hospital. Lying flat was the only thing that gave any kind of relief.
I learned that this was a spinal headache. I used to suffer from frequent migraines, and when I tell you this was worse I mean it was the absolute worst! Friday evening I began to have less pain moving around. Still pain, but less intense.
After 5ish days of symptom induced bed rest I was able to sit upright on the couch today. Praise the Lord the end is near! Please pray that this headache is complete resolved as soon as possible tonight!
My counts are steadily dropping so there will likely be the need for a blood transfusion in the next couple of weeks. Please pray that I don’t need a transfusion at all but, if I do please pray that I do not have any reaction to the blood.
Please pray that this was my last inpatient stay. For. Ever. No really, pause for 60 seconds and pray right now… Thank you! Now add this to your prayer list to pray daily.
Cousin Michelle Update: for those of you who follow me on Facebook, you know my cousin was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. She underwent brain surgery on Tuesday. The surgeon said the surgery went well. The most recent update I’ve received said she was doing ok. Sleeping a lot, and trying to eat. Her ailments and pain must be so awful. I feel bad for complaining about a spinal headache when she literally had her scull cut open. Please keep her in your prayers.
I have an unspoken prayer request for my Mother-in-law, Karen. Please cover her in light, love, and prayers. (Or, good juju if that’s your thing.)
We did have a fantastic (last) weekend celebrating our anniversary. I’m so thankful I made it through the entire weekend without these symptoms.
Now to finish recovering, and build strength for the next batch of chemo.
